Tia Kolbaba of Rutgers University co-teaches a popular course connecting religion to the hot-button headlines. Kolbaba teaches her students that religion is not separate from everything else but is almost always in the room if you know how to look for it. She pinpoints the religion factors at work in some of today's top stories, including the war in Ukraine and the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

Tia M. Kolbaba, Ph.D.  Associate Professor in the Department of Religion at Rutgers University—studying early and medieval Christianity, with a special emphasis on the Greek-speaking Eastern Church. She is interested in relations between Orthodox and Catholic Christians and among religious groups. Her publications include work on the Crusades, holy war, conversion, and religious polemic.
