“…Quakers in Gaza Have a Long History” April 18, 2024
Mike Merryman-Lotze is the Just Peace Global Policy Director at the American Friends Service Committee, a Quaker organization headquartered in Philadelphia.  He joins to share the struggles facing humanitarian workers in Gaza and explain why the organization has issued a global call for an unconditional ceasefire and the release of hostages.  He describes why AFSC is calling on Western governments to halt the sale and transfer of weapons to conflict zones and for faith communities to work together as peacemakers.

Joy Ashford is the new religion reporter at the Dallas Morning News, supported by Report for America.  They join us to share some of the stories Joy has been covering in North Texas.

Joy Ashford, Beat reporter covering faith and religion in North Texas for the Dallas Morning News. Previously, Joy worked as a co-op for The Boston Globe and interned with the Washington Monthly, The Delaware News Journal, and Philadelphia Magazine, Joy majored in social studies at Harvard, wrote a senior thesis on religious liberty, and has served as an executive editor, arch chair, and magazine staff writer for their student newspaper, The Harvard Crimson.

In 2023, Joy was named a finalist for the Society of Professional Journalist Cultural Criticism Award for their arts criticism at The Boston Globe.
