Spotlight: Uncovering Sexual Abuse by Boston-Area Priests |
February 25, 2016 |
|
One of the nominees for Best Picture at the Oscars this year was "Spotlight"-- a movie based on the investigative reporting that blew open the story of widespread sexual abuse by Boston-area Catholic priests in 2002, and also proved a cover-up by high ranking church officials. Reporter Mike Rezendes (played by Mark Ruffalo), discusses how the Boston Globe Spotlight team uncovered details of the scandal, and explains the Catholic Church's reach in Boston.

February 25, 2016 |
|
The Hungarian-made film "Son of Saul" was nominated for Best Foreign Film in the Oscars this year. In the movie, viewers are transported to the Auschwitz concentration camps, where Saul Auslander is forced to work in a Sonderkommando, a group of prisoners tasked with operating the gas chambers and crematoriums. But Saul is on a personal mission, a frantic search for a Rabbi to bury a boy he thinks is his son.
