American Prophets: New Book Documents Rise of Progressive Faith Influence May 22, 2020
National religion reporter Jack Jenkins new book, American Prophets: The Religious Roots of Progressive Politics and the Ongoing Fight for the Soul of the Country, seeks to confirm what many have wondered: is there a religious left? Jenkins describes the rise of a coalition of faith leaders since 2005 and the primary influencers within the movement.  In contrast to the conservative structures that support religious right advocacy, Jenkins describes the characteristics of this national movement that he maintains was galvanized by the election of President Donald J. Trump and the rise of the alt-right.
