In 2008, authorities removed more than 400 children from the Yearning for Zion ranch in Texas. They were members of Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—a group accused of underage marriage and the sexual abuse of minors. It was the largest detention of children in government history, carried out with SWAT teams, snipers, helicopters and automatic weapons.
